Star cast or the story line. You may have noticed movies with a poor story line, and star cast becoming hits because of their songs. Music has a lot of power, especially in India with many youngsters who love to hum of these songs day and night.

Music composers and lyrists like R.D.Burman and Gulzar sahib have captivated audiences with their work till today. The music composers like Anu Malik, Anand, Milind, and others have been creating melodious numbers. Who can forget the 2008 blockbuster movie, Slumdog Millionaire? Even though this movie was a British production, it had some amazing Indian musical scores, which ultimately lead it to be a super hit worldwide.

Some of the new movie songs from India would be from films like Tees Maar Khan, Dabangg, Aisha, and Khatta Meetha. Hit songs for the year 2010 would include Tere Liye (Prince), Udi Tere Aankhoin Se (Guzaarish), Jab Mila Tu (I hate Luv Storys), Dhanno Aapka Kya Hoga (Housefull) and Uff Teri Adaa (Karthik Calling Karthik).

The film Dabangg also is noted for its amazing songs and caused the film to be a huge success in India. One of its songs ‘Muni badnam huyi tere liye’ was a super hit among the masses. That is the power of Indian music. Happy listening!

If you are looking for truckloads of romance, fresh pairing and zingy music then Anjaana Anjaani might satiate your desire. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and directed by Siddharth Anand, this movie is a rom-com. Music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics by Neelesh Mishra, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Anvita Dutt, Kumaar, Kausar Munir and Irshad Kamil. The album begins with the title track sung by Nikhil D’Souza and Monali Thakur. It is a catchy song that does not offer anything new but possesses spunk, spirit and upbeat flavor, enough to make you groove.

Next up is “Hairat” rendered by Lucky Ali who brings in a distinct personality whilst slipping smoothly into the high-pitched yet racy skin of this techno-quirky number. It is always good to listen to Lucky Ali.

“Aas Paas Khuda” is the next song sung by silky-voiced playback singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who has kept giving one hit after another in year 2010. This one is a lovely track with dulcet beats and encouraging words. The album also has an unplugged version of the same, co-starring Shruti Pathak.

The next track is “Tumse Hi Tumse” sung by Shekhar Ravjiani ably supported by Shekhar and Caralisa Monteiro. This is a love song with ample dosage of melody and vivacity. This is followed by “Tujhe Bhula Diya”, a qawaali with Mohit Chauhan as the lead singer. More of an experiment, this fails to leave any impact.

“I feel good” is sublime and stirring. A romantic track, you are sure to like this song. The last track of the album is the title song sung by Vishal and Shilpa Rao. A love ballad with calm tempo and soft texture. All in all, Anjaana Anjaani is worth listening to.

Well, it’s Salman Khan once again with who else but the duo of Sajid-Wajid. This team has worked together in many films now including Partner, Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, Veer and now Dabangg. They seem to have developed good rapport. One thing is common in all their movies and that is a mix of all genres of songs in the album. Dabangg is no different.

The album opens on a highly positive note with ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’. A delightful number, the lyrics of the song has been composed by guest lyricist Faaiz Anwaar. It is quite a catchy song with full of melody and romance. The track has a Sufi base to it and there is no one better to justify that base than Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. A must-listen.

Next up is current chartbuster “Munni Badnaam”. It will remind you of ‘Beedi Jalaile Le’. Lyrics by Lalit Pandit who is also the guest composer of the song, the song is currently ruling the charts. Sung in a rustic style by Mamta Sharma and Aishwarya, the song is funny, entertaining and will certainly please front benches. A typical masala number with all the ingredients of a hit.

“’Chori Kiya Re Jiya” rendered by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal is a melodious, sweet sounding and appealing track. It has got an intrinsic innocent appeal.

Next up is “Udd Udd Dabangg” sung by Sukhwinder Singh is the title track of the album. Sukhwinder is intense and powerful like always. There is a drunken song in form of “Humka Peeni Hai” with Salman as the centre of attraction yet again. Sung by Wajid, Master Salim and Shabab Sabri, this is an average song and fails to create any solid effect.

The album ends on a high note though with ‘Dabangg Theme’. To sum up, Dabangg manages to deliver what it promised.

Lafangey Parindey has managed to generate good buzz. It has young and happening star cast of Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone. Movie has been directed by Pradeep Sarkar of Parineeta fame and this is clearly a distinct departure for him who is better known for making women centric melodramas. The movie has been made by Yash Raj banner and music is composed by R Anandh.

The album begins with the title track of ‘Lafangey Parinde’. Song is all about attitude and aggression and the singer Sarkar has done a commendable job. His high-pitched crooning is just appropriate for this rock in genre.

Next up is ‘Man Lafangey’ beautifully crooned by Mohit Chauhan. Mohit has kept giving us one hit after another and here again; he has done perfect justice to Anand’s music and Kirkire’s poetic apparitions. The track will have a stirring effect on you. A beautiful depiction of waywardness of love.

Next up is ‘Dhatad Tatad’ which is high on rhythmic verbatim and new-age philosophy. Vocals by Anushka Manchanda and Shail Hada make this a buoyant track. A good combination of rock guitar and street style percussion makes this a potentially hit number.

You cant help but appreciate Shilpa Rao’s vocals in ‘Nain Parindey’. Contemplative, delightful, and melodic, Nain Parindey can also be termed as the best offering of the album. You just can’t miss this song.

Surag Jagan has sung the next number ‘Rang Daalein’. A good effort that has an edgy touch to it. To sum up, R.Anand has done a real good job here and album is definitely worth listening to.

Composer-singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya is back with next venture ‘Kajraare’. The album has total 7 original songs and 4 remixes. The movie has been made by Bhatt Banners. Reshammiya’s last musical venture was ‘Radio’ that had done relatively ok but this time, the album promises far better reactions from audiences. The album begins with the title song ‘kajraare’ in typical Himesh style. The song has already created quite a buzz in the music circle. The track boasts of a wonderful rhythm. Himesh has been accompanied by Sunidhi Chauhan and it does manage to leave a lasting impression in your mind.

Next up is ‘Rabba luck barsa’ which has been wonderfully sung by Himesh. An enjoyable song, this one has simple lyrics but great visuals and musical effects. ‘Tujhe dekhake armaan jaage’ is the next track sung by Himesh in combination with Shreya Ghoshal. Terrific vocals and effective composition. You will find yourself humming this song.

These three songs are really good but thereafter the next four tracks are just the continuation of old Himesh. ‘Woh lamha phir se jina hai’ is quite an okay song but it will find it hard to stay long in listeners’ minds. ‘Teriya Meriya’ is more in a classical mould.

‘Sanu guzara zamana’ boasts of a nice rhythmic combination and musical instruments. ‘Afreen’ is a good treat for those who love slow music. This one has a ghazal-ish feel. Kajraare, Rabba luck barsa, Woh lamha phir se jeena hai and Sanu guzara zamana have remixed versions but nothing striking about them. All in all, Kajraare will be remembered for few songs but not for all of them.

Badmaash Company is the latest release from YRF banners. High on style quotient, the movie is a take on ethics and morale of youngsters who want to make it big at any cost. The movie received good word-of-mouth publicity because of its tantalizing musical outburst. The music has been composed by ever-successful Pritam who has kept giving us one hit after another. Badmaash Company is no different as its chart-topper music had youngsters dancing to its fascinating tunes. The album begins with ‘Ayaashi’ sung by hugely talented KK. The song connects well with the theme of the movie. It has distinctive loud bass guitar strumming, pleasing electronica disco feel and good vocals. Song is more like a mix of Pritam’s trademark hip-hop and ‘death-rock’ metal appeal.

Ayaashi Remix has high tempo and invigorating disco-beat fillers mixing with energized thumping. A typical dance number, it is doing well across the country. ‘Jingle Jingle’, the next song sung by Mohit Chauhan is a situation track highlighting the aspirations of youth brigade. Lyrics are penned in sms-ing style and it has bhangra bear music setting.

‘Chaska’ has loud instrumental appeal and slightly sluggish tempo arrangements. Songs has good combination of guitar and drumming. Song will have its moments but won’t be able to hold you for long. However, ‘Chaska (remix)’ sounds better than the original version. It is a pumped up energetic song with good beats.

‘Fakeera’ is an interesting song more so, because you don’t really get to hear Rahat Fateh Ali singing in such speedy rock track. He tries too hard and somehow song fails to impress you. It is an average song that perhaps tries too hard. The last one is title track titled ‘Badmaash Company’. Benny Dayal’s does a good job in this mixture of hip-hop emceeing and boisterous chorals. All in all, Badmaash Company definitely deserves a listening, at least once.

Hrithik Roshan is back. His much anticipated movie, ‘Kites’ is soon going to be released. To generate that essential hype, the music of the ‘Kites’ has been released two months prior to the release of the movie. The movie has been directed by Anurag Basu and the music has been composed by Rajesh Roshan. The album definitely has an international touch that will appeal to the listeners outside India. Interestingly, Hrithik has also made his singing debut and well, he has done a decent job here. Lyrics have been written by Nasir Faraaz and Asif Ali Beg and they have done a commendable job.

The album begins with ‘Zindagi Do Pal Ki’. Crooned by Kay Kay, the song will make an impact immediately. Kay Kay, true to his talent and potential has done a fascinating job and the song manages to remain with you even after you are done with the album. This one is a romantic track and has interesting variations of the pitches. The remixed version of the song is relatively faster but the essence remains the same.

Next comes ‘Dil Kyun Yeh Mera’ sung by Kay Kay again. It is a slow song that works smoothly. The number has cool mix of electronic guitar and beats and delightful rhythms. You are sure to fall in love with this song. The remixed version of this song has added mixture of techno beats and rap. It is equally appealing.

Vishal Dadlani and Suraj Jagan have crooned ‘Tum Bhi Woh Wahi’. The song starts slowly but picks up the pace afterwards. The vocals are high-pitch and give the impression of a rock song. Singers have done a wonderful job here.

Hrithik Roshan makes his debut as a singer in ‘Kites in the Sky’. Ably supported by Suzanne D’Mello, the song has feel of opera and has English lyrics. It’s a slow and melodious song making you listen to it again and again.

The next up is ‘Fire Love is Hell’ in voices of Rajesh Roshan, Vishal Dadlani, Anirudh Bhola and Anushka Manchanda. It is actually a dance number that will make you move to its beats. The English version of the same song has almost everything similar to the original track. All in all, the album is worth listening to and is sure to make a mark in local as well as international market.

Quite a good number of music fans love to learn music. One of the favorite instruments of a new music learner is guitar. Playing music on guitar gives a different feel altogether. But to play guitar, one needs to buy it. While professional guitarists know the details while going to purchase it but for amateurs ones, it might be slightly difficult. Choosing the guitar that perfectly suits one’s needs is definitely complicated.

Guitar comes in a variety of types and even a minor glitch can adversely affect its performance. The first thing you need to pay attention to is the type of guitar you want to go for. Guitar could be electric bass guitar, steel-stringed acoustic guitar for folk and blues, a nylon-stringed acoustic for classical music, guitar for old rock and roll etc types. If you have any musician in your knowledge, it’s always better to take his advice. They can suggest you regarding what type of guitar will exactly suit your needs.

One wonderful idea is to research on internet about different types of guitar and price guides. You can also check out guitar magazines. Many new learners prefer to buy second hand model. You should look for a well balanced body, a straight neck, frets that are smooth and flush.

Try to play the guitar as this will give you an idea about the turning keys and also the sound quality of each string. If you are interested in electric guitar, check for any humming and cracking. Lastly, try out different models before finally selecting your favorite model.
